HYPNOTHERAPY

A research-based approach proven to increase suggestibility to change and to get to the root of underlying issues.

WHAT IS CLINICAL HYPNOTHERAPY?

When many people hear the word hypnosis, they picture stage performers making volunteers cluck like chickens or lose control of their actions. Fortunately, that version of hypnosis has very little in common with clinical hypnotherapy.

Clinical hypnotherapy is a therapeutic tool that utilizes a natural state of focused attention known as a trance. Contrary to popular myths, you do not lose consciousness, surrender control, or become unable to remember what occurred. In fact, most people remain fully aware throughout the process and can choose to stop at any time.

If you've ever become so absorbed in a movie, book, daydream, or train of thought that you temporarily lost track of time, you've already experienced a trance state.

In therapy, hypnosis allows us to intentionally access this naturally occurring state of focused awareness. For many people, this makes it easier to connect with emotions, memories, beliefs, and patterns that may be difficult to reach through conversation alone.

WHAT CAN HYPNOTHERAPY ADDRESS?

Hypnotherapy can be used to support a wide variety of therapeutic goals. In my practice, it is most commonly used for trauma resolution, anxiety, self-esteem concerns, identity exploration, stress management, habit change, and personal growth.

I am especially passionate about using trauma-focused hypnotherapy to help individuals process difficult experiences, uncover deeper emotional patterns, and reconnect with parts of themselves that may have become disconnected through life's challenges.

Hypnotherapy can be used as a stand-alone intervention or integrated alongside other approaches such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), psychotherapy, mindfulness, and experiential therapies.

WHAT DOES A HYPNOTHERAPY SESSION ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE?

A hypnotherapy session typically begins with a conversation about your goals, concerns, and the issue you would like to address. From there, I guide you through a process of relaxation and focused attention designed to help you enter a comfortable trance state.

Once in trance, we work together toward your therapeutic goals. Depending on the purpose of the session, this may involve exploring emotions, processing memories, strengthening positive beliefs, increasing self-awareness, or connecting with deeper aspects of yourself.

Many clients describe hypnosis as feeling similar to deep relaxation, guided meditation, or becoming fully immersed in a vivid daydream. Every person's experience is different, but most find the process both comfortable and surprisingly natural.

One of the most important things to understand about hypnotherapy is that you remain an active participant throughout the process. My role is not to control your mind but to guide and support you as you access your own inner resources for healing and change.
